Alluvial Filmworks Seeks Submissions From Next Great Filmmakers in GLBT Cinema

Los Angeles, California - Alluvial Filmworks, an entertainment distribution division of Village Lighthouse, Inc., is actively seeking innovative short and feature films of gay and lesbian interest for international distribution. Filmmakers posting quality shorts and trailers online and/or paying film festival entry fees in the hopes of major distribution and press should look no further than directly contacting international distributor Alluvial Filmworks. Alluvial Filmworks is a rising entertainment company building a reputation for releasing independent feature films, short films, and TV shows. With an ever-growing fan base, press coverage and business relationships with over 500 accounts including major chain retailers, independent community retailers and global distributors including Blockbuster, Amazon.com, Baker & Taylor, Virgin Entertainment, Book of the Month Club, Barnes & Noble, Borders and Netflix, Alluvial Filmworks offers filmmakers of gay and lesbian content the chance to be exposed to people in small and large cities around the world. Filmmakers or animators who believe they have completed, or are soon to complete, an entertaining and quality film are encouraged to make a submission.

Alluvial Filmworks welcomes live-action and animation film submissions in all genres including comedy, drama, horror, foreign and documentary. It considers films for possible distribution based on the ability of the film to engage the audience and make viewers laugh, cry and feel inspired. Other considerations in the selection process will include film quality, acting, and how well a gay and lesbian audience can relate to the story. Meanwhile, Alluvial Filmworks always keeps in mind its mission to share work from artists whose impressive skills have yet to be widely discovered.

With inventive and fresh content, Alluvial Filmworks is growing as a recognizable entertainment brand among press outlets, retailers, and most importantly in the GLBT community. Instinct Magazine, a nationally distributed gay publication, recently named Ron Miller, the founder and president of Alluvial Filmworks' parent company Village Lighthouse, a leading man of 2007 in part because of Alluvial Filmworks inroads with major retailers and the company's focus on creating positive products that the gay community can be proud of. In particular, Instinct notes Alluvial Filmworks for its terrific content and successful launch of the short film collection FirstOUT and Bump!, the world's first and most watched gay and lesbian travel series on DVD. Reviews of Alluvial Filmworks' recent releases have been seen in local and international magazines and newspapers like Philadelphia Gay News, Refresh (UK), LesbianNation.com, Bay Windows, Cinema Pride, Q Vegas, Outword Magazine, IN Los Angeles, Jane and Jane, DNA (Australia), GO NYC Magazine, We The People, Washington Blade, Dallas Voice, Bay Area Reporter, EXP, New York Blade, OutInAmerica.com and The Bottomline.

Besides press attention, inclusion on an Alluvial Filmworks short film compilation like FirstOUT or Girls' View is the chance to be part of an established series carried by major retailers and distributors. Notably, retail giant Blockbuster has stepped to the forefront in carrying gay and lesbian short film content from Alluvial Filmworks by committing to carry the upcoming release FirstOUT 2 in April 2008 after its major success with the first edition in the series. Alluvial Filmworks' lesbian-themed short film collection, Girls' View, is still receiving recognition by press outlets since its August 2007 release and has had a tremendous following with online retailer Amazon.com with sales on almost all of its websites worldwide. Building on a tremendous success of 2007 and 2008, Alluvial is also planning on expanding its short collections with new titles in the future.

Full feature content from Alluvial Filmworks ranges from the award–winning, media acclaimed documentary Cruel & Unusual, comedy shows like Fall on Your Knees featuring Miss Richfield 1981 and Laughing Matters…More!, and fun gay favorites like Fake ID and Gypsy Boys. Alluvial Filmworks has also launched the international DVD release of television series like the ultimate gay travel series Bump!, the reality series Chris & John to the Rescue!, the controversial drama series Big Bow Wow and the world's first all GLBT sketch comedy series, the House of Venus Show.

Submissions to Alluvial Filmworks must be in English or have English subtitles. Only VHS or DVD format will be accepted. Originals/masters should not be sent because submissions will not be returned. Artists should send their film, a short synopsis and contact information to: Alluvial Filmworks, Attn: Submissions, 6165 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90038. Chosen selections will either be licensed or purchased. All questions regarding the submission process and fan recommendations should be sent to filmmakers@villagelighthouse.com.
